Cha Eun-Woo is known as a Face Genius. What’s that, you ask? It refers to an insanely handsome person with perfect features, who’s also a straight-A student. Not surprisingly, the production team behind the upcoming webtoon series, “True Beauty,” has offered him the leading male role. Though there are rumors that this will be his next leading vehicle (he had previously starred in “Gangnam Beauty” and “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung”), we can’t count on it just yet.

“It is true that Cha Eun-Woo has received an offer to star in ‘True Beauty,'” said his talent agency, Fantagio. “He is reviewing the offer currently.”

What is fact, though, is that he is the newest cast member of “Master in the House,” along with mixed martial arts fighter Kim Dong-Hyun. (Their episodes will start to run in May.)

Cha is no novice to variety shows. He was one of the stars of the reality basketball series “Handsome Tigers.” And he showed off his survival skills (and charm) on Episode 378 of “Law of the Jungle.”

Cha and Kim are taking over the spots left vacant by Lee Sang Yoon and BTOB’s Yook Sung-Jae. They first appeared on “Master in the House” as guests, to see how they’d mesh with the regulars, including Lee Seung-Gi,  Yang Se-Hyung, and Shin Sung-Rok.

As I mentioned at the start of this article, Cha is renowned for being a Face Genius. When he was on “Handsome Tigers,” even his team’s teenage opponents marveled at how good looking he was, describing his features as unreal. On that series, as well as on “Master in the House,” he seemed shy when asked whether he was the best looking student at his school. He didn’t answer that, but he did reply when asked if his female classmates had crushes on him. He said he was mostly unaware of any attention to his looks, because he had promised his father that he would concentrate on his studies and earn good grades.

On “Master in the House,” there was a cute bit where they pored over Cha’s resume (to join the series) and tried to catch him in any exaggerations. Seeing that he put down language skills as one of his talents, they asked him to speak in English. They were shocked when he spoke it nearly flawlessly.

Though Cha is one of the more famous members of the cast, fans will be delighted to see how humble he is. He is self deprecating, but funny, and shows very good comedic timing, just as he did on “Handsome Tigers.”

Some facts about Cha Eun-Woo:

Age: 23

Education: He’s currently enrolled at Sungkyunkwan University, where he is a performing arts major.

Band: Astro, which debuted in 2016. Their next comeback is scheduled for May 4 with their mini album, “Gateway.”

Acting: As a teenager, Cha had a cameo in the 2014 film, “My Brilliant Life.” He starred in the webisodic series “My Romantic Some Recipe.” His breakthrough role as a leading man was in 2018’s “Gangnam Beauty,” which tackled society’s expectations of beauty for women — but also shamed them for paying attention to their looks.

Awards: Of the 16 awards he was nominated for (acting/hosting), Cha won 12 of them! He won awards for a range of his work: Best Rookie (2017), Rising Star (2018) and Most Charming (2019).
