A typical ‘kkondae’ would be fond of saying, “Back in my days…” or “Young people these days…” Do these phrases already remind you of someone?

KKONDAE – condescending older person

The Korean slang ‘kkondae’ loosely translates as “condescending older person.” It usually refers to obstinate superiors who force outdated mindsets on their junior colleagues. But of course, it’s not just that. To give you a clearer picture, two actors explain what it means!

Actor Park Hae-Jin:

Veteran actor Kim Eung-Soo:

In short, we can say that kkondaes give people a hard time. If you are reminded of someone and that person is making your blood boil, this upcoming drama “Kkondae Intern” is going to be something you’ll look forward to!

What is it about?

Ga Yeol-Chan (Park Hae-Jin) was picked at by his superior who forces his outdated mindset on others. He couldn’t take the pressure for long and left that company to join another. In his new company, things went extremely well. Yeol-Chan became a general manager of a marketing team in no time. One day, a senior intern joins his team and it turns out that this intern used to be his superior who picked at him in the past. He decides to give that intern a hard time.

Who are the main characters?

Ga Yeol-Chan (Played by Park Hae-Jin)

Male, 35. General Manager.

A general manager in the marketing department at Joonsoo Food and the creator of Spicy Chicken Ramyeon.

He is well-liked in his company–his employees love him for letting them go home on time and his executives trust him. Yeol-Chan’s abilities are also widely recognized and he climbed the career ladder quickly. He may seem perfect, but he has a humiliating past. When he was a rookie, his seniors didn’t like him and gave him a hard time.

Lee Man-Shik (Played by Kim Eung-Soo)

Male, 61. Senior Intern.

Ex-general manager, he’s currently a senior intern.

Due to his sudden honorary retirement, Lee Man-Shik is back to being a senior intern. Before his retirement, he was always picking at his subordinates. Even though he has retired and is now nothing more than an intern, his old habits stay.

Lee Tae-Ri (Played by Han Ji-Eun)

Female, 28. Intern.

A new intern who loves eating.

Lee Tae-Ri is crazy from her first day of work and she loves justice. She’s a hard worker. Eating is her way to de-stress.

Here’s a teaser for “Kkondae Intern“!
