Dr. Romantic” is back with season 2 and is off to an amazing start! The third and fourth episodes of “Dr. Romantic 2” peaked at 22.1%, which averages out to 13.2% and 18.0% respectively.

Have you started watching “Dr. Romantic 2” that premiered on January 6? The fresh new season has a good mix of old and new characters. Here are some character introductions that might help!

Kim Sa Bu (Played by Han Seok-Kyu)

His real name is Boo Yong-Joo, the only triple board-certified surgeon in South Korea. He is known as “God’s Hands” because of how skillful he is, but he calls himself “Dr. Romantic.”

Kim Sa Bu is an eccentric doctor who does not usually reveal what he is thinking. He used to work in Geodae Hospital, but is currently working in a hospital in the countryside named Doldam Hospital.

Doctors Kang Dong-Joo (Played by Yoo Yeon-Seok), Yoon Seo-Jeong (Played by Seo Hyun-Jin), and Do In-Beom (Played by Yang Se-Jong) from season 1 had to leave Doldam Hospital due to personal reasons. And hence, Kim Sa Bu goes to Geodae Hospital to look for potential doctors to work together with.

Cha Eun-Jae (Played by Lee Sung-Kyung)

Studying is her hobby. Cha Eun-Jae grew up with people around her complimenting how talented she is in studying. To live up to her family’s expectations, she gritted her teeth to get into medical school, got through that hellish internship, and finally, becoming a cardiac surgeon.

But that was all she could do. She gets nauseous the moment she enters an operating theater. Eun-Jae tried getting through surgeries with tranquilizers and sedatives, but tranquilizers did not really work and sedatives made her fall asleep during surgeries. In the end, she messed up during operation and is asked to work in Doldam Hospital.

Seo Woo-Jin (Played by Ahn Hyo-Seop)

A general surgeon who would do anything for money. In an era of endless competition, he is someone who thinks it is necessary to make selfish choices. Seo Woo-Jin is a cynical and dull man, but he shines in the operating theaters by displaying incredible concentration skills and nimbleness. He did not, however, do that merely to save his patients.

He became a surgeon because he thinks that it is his only way to make a living. He needed money to pay off his school loan and the debt that his father left him. The moment he got his professional license, Woo-Jin went to work in a hospital that pays a lot. Things went south, the hospital was shut down and rumors about Woo-Jin being the whistle-blower began floating around.

Woo-Jin went to work in Geodae Hospital but was ostracized by his colleagues and was kicked out later. Kim Sa Bu makes an offer to have him work in Doldam Hospital.

Is it necessary to watch the first season of “Dr. Romantic” before watching “Dr. Romantic 2“? Not really, the second season does a good job filling new viewers in with necessary information from season 1, and the plot skeleton of the story is really simple.

Season 1 is just as good and it is definitely worth watching, so we highly recommend bingeing on its first season while waiting for new episodes of the second!
