Now that we’re so close to ending 2022, let’s talk about the heart of romance K-Dramas, and which one has our favorite couples! From friends to lovers, fake dating, cohabitation, and more fun tropes, K-Dramas never fail to show us something we’ve never seen before!
I’ve watched a lot of K-Dramas this year and noticed that ‘thriller’ is the K-Drama genre of 2022 but that doesn’t mean there aren’t fantastic romance storylines that we also enjoyed. Now let’s not wait anymore and talk about 2022’s best K-Drama couples!
“The Law Cafe” Couple
As someone who’s a big fan of the best trope, the friends-to-lovers trope, I will always mention Jung Ho and Yu Ri of “The Law Cafe” because they are prime examples of this. These two are literal goals who first met as high school classmates and now meet again as a prosecutor/landlord and lawyer/cafe owner. Their dynamic as a couple is one of my favorites because Yu Ri is the chaotic type and Jung Ho is the calm boyfriend who always looks out for her!
“Business Proposal” Couple
When I think of 2022 K-Drama couples that make my heart flutter, Kang Tae Moo and Shin Hari of “Business Proposal” will be the first ones to come to my mind. I have always been a fan of rom-com K-Dramas, and I’m so happy that I started 2022 with them. The drama knows how to make all the cliche tropes work, thus, it’s fascinating that this couple uses the “fake dating” trope, and that the two eventually develop genuine affection for one another.
“Alchemy Of Souls” Couple
I didn’t expect that I would find the best couple material in a fantasy historical drama because Jang Uk and Cho Yeong showed us a beautiful yet painful romance story. The two who started as enemies at first, turned into bickering comrades and almost husband and wife. They might be on a rough path now, but they are the kind of couple who will always return to one another.
“Fanletter, Please“
This mini drama only has four episodes, yet in those four episodes, we saw why Han Kang Hee and Bang Jung Seok are made for one another. This is the only K-Drama romance lead couple this year where one of the love interests is a single father! I appreciated how Jung Seok’s daughter, Yoona, is the bridge for the former high school classmates to be connected again!
“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” Couple
One of the best couples ever in a K-Drama is Woo Young Woo and Lee Jun Ho of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” I think they are the softest couple of the year because of Young Woo and Jun Ho’s dynamics. The two complete each other in the sense that their relationship helped them to become even brighter and better people.
“If You Wish Upon Me” Couple
Although at first glance a nurse and a former criminal make an unlikely couple, “If You Wish Upon Me” shows that second chances are always possible. After learning more about Yoon Geurae and Seo Yeonjoo, their love story quickly became one of my favorites of the year. The two are currently working in a hospice and are now living a happy life after everything they’ve gone through!
“Recipe For Farewell” Couple
This couple is so different from the other couple I’ve mentioned in this article because they are already a married couple who are experiencing a rough patch in their marriage. They offer different dynamics because they have the type of love where they can always rely on each other in their hardest moments.
“My Liberation Notes” Couple
It’s not always that we see an introvert and introvert couple, and “My Liberation Notes” is a perfect example of it. This drama shows us life in the most realistic and relatable way and also gave us a beautiful kind of romance on how the presence of one another can give comfort to the other person.
“Moonshine” Couple
Bickering K-Drama couples have a huge place in my heart, and the “Moonshine” couple is very fun to watch whenever they are bickering! Since they are from a historical drama, the two have been through a lot together, and they have earned every bit of happiness that comes their way.
“Big Mouth” Couple
As I said, 2022 K-Dramas are full of thrillers, and we witnessed a romance story from this married couple! Miho is the perfect wife who’s always there for her husband, and she didn’t leave him and has stood by him through his lowest points. Meanwhile, Changho on the other hand is the kind of husband who will do everything for his wife.
“Cheer Up” Couple
This couple is the only campus couple on this list, so if you’re wanting to meet a campus couple who are both in a cheerleading squad, this drama is the perfect one for you! This couple has the “she fell hard, but he fell harder” trope because Jung Woo is really head over heels for Hae Yi. Despite the show’s shortcomings, their chemistry is undeniable.
“Twenty-Five Twenty-One” Couple
And this list wouldn’t be complete if I don’t talk about the “Twenty-Five Twenty-One” couple. These two made us experience all the feels from heart-fluttering moments to heartbreaks. They gave us a glimpse of a love that is genuine and tragic; by being by one another’s sides in their lowest points, they taught us to appreciate each moment for what it is.
Looking back, 2022 is really a great year for us K-Drama fans in how we met these amazing couples this year! If you aren’t familiar, how about getting to know many of them on KOCOWA!
