An average suspense drama would take several episodes to reveal everything, but a good one would be captivating enough to keep us at the edge of our seats till the end while playing the guessing game with them for hours.

1. Children of Nobody (2019)

MAIN LEADS: Kim Sun-A, Lee Yi-Kyung, Nam Gyu-Ri, Cha Hak-Yeon.

PLOT: Cha Woo-Kyung (Kim Sun-A) is a child counselor. Her desire to protect young children gets herself involved in several child abuse and murder cases unintentionally. Eventually, she becomes the prime suspect for these murder cases and Detective Kang Ji-Hun (Lee Yi-Kyung) is the only one who believes her.

WATCH THIS FOR: The adorable and innocent children that are waiting to be saved! These children are going to be really heartbreaking to watch. The drama has a dark, heavy tone which touches on the reality of child abuse cases when relevant authorities are unable to do anything to help them. Each time Cha Woo-Kyung finally pieces up the clues that the children have left behind, time is always running short and they would need help to reach them immediately. It leaves you anxiously rooting for Cha Woo-Kyung to go to them quickly.

2. Suspicious Partner (2017)

MAIN LEADS: Ji Chang-Wook, Nam Ji-Hyun, Choi Tae-Joon, Kwon Na-Ra.

PLOT: Eun Bong-Hee (Nam Ji-Hyun) gets falsely accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend. To get her out, No Ji-Wook (Ji Chang-Wook) risks his career and reputation. The two work together to catch the real culprit responsible for a series of murders.

WATCH THIS FOR: Its surprising twists at every turn and of course, the heart-fluttering romance scenes. Suspense in this drama doesn’t just revolve around the main case of the serial killer here, the minor cases on the side are just as interesting and unpredictable.

3. Defendant (2017)

MAIN LEADS: Ji Sung, Uhm Ki-Joon, Kwon Yuri.

PLOT: Park Jung-Woo (Ji Sung) is a competent prosecutor. He finds himself locked up in prison one day, but has no memory of what exactly happened. All he knew was that he was deemed guilty and sentenced to death for killing his wife and daughter. To prove his innocence, he struggles to escape prison to find evidence on his own.

WATCH THIS FOR: The ways this extremely intelligent character Park Jung-Woo uses to prove his innocence, making things really exciting. Park Jung-Woo’s memory keeps coming back and forth, strangely. The last thing he remembers is celebrating his daughter’s birthday and putting her to sleep, but everyone in the prison is telling him that he has killed his wife and daughter. He even has evidence pointing at him, even when he doesn’t believe it. The suspense goes on for a few episodes before the entire truth is revealed, but it just never gets tiring!

The best mystery Korean dramas are good with making things suspenseful and keeping viewers really curious. Some mystery Korean dramas have a dark tone which kept me away in the beginning, but it didn’t take me too long to find myself desperately looking for the next episode!
