It pays to have a superstar singer as one of your best friends. BTS‘ Kim Tae-hyung has written and produced a song called “Sweet Night” for Park Seo-joon‘s hit K-drama, “Itaewon Class.” The tune will — of course — be sung by Kim, also known to fans as V. The title is a nod to Dan Bam, the name of the pub that Park’s character owns. In Korean, Dan Bam translates into … you guessed it … sweet night.

The song will be made available at 6 p.m KST on March 13. For those of us in the United States, that translates to … welp … 2 a.m. PDT (California) or 5 a.m. EDT (New York).

VLENDING — the production team spearheading the original soundtrack — hinted that the song falls into the indie pop genre and is acoustic heavy.

On a broadcast they had prior to performing on “Music Bank,” V and his bandmate RM (aka Kim Nam-joon) also hinted about a new song that people are assuming is “Sweet Night.” After chatting about V’s solo track, “Inner Child” from “Map of the Soul: 7,” V talked about a new unnamed song: “It’s my type. I really love it.” RM, who had a part in this new track, said they worked hard to help fulfill the vision that V had for this song.

This isn’t the first time V has sung a song specifically for a K-Drama. He was an actor in the series “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth.” He and his BTS bandmate, Jin, dueted together on “It’s Definitely You,” which became the de facto theme song for the cast. V’s co-stars included Park Seo-joon and Park Hyung-sik. In real life, the three performers became great friends who celebrated birthdays and vacationed together.

Their group of close-knit friends also includes “Parasite” star Choi Woo-shik and musician Peakboy.

The “Itaewon Class” star and V are such good friends that they treat each other like family, with V being the mischievous younger brother you can’t be mad at — no matter what he does.

For instance, V once sent Park a coffee truck to congratulate him on his new project. He included a professional photo of himself and a (relatively) unflattering picture of Park that showed off a double chin. He puckishly sent this message for Park’s colleagues to read: “He’s an ugly man, but please take good care of him anyhow.”

Park took it all in stride, saying, “You cutie. I thank you and love you. But you know nothing good can come of this, right?”

LOL!

And yet, something good … and sweet … has come out of it. May their friendship live forever and may the two stars reunite on screen again one day for another acting opportunity. Fighting, Kim Tae-hyung! Fighting, Park Seo-joon!

  1. “The tune will — of course — be sung by Kim.” You meant Taehyung(?). No one calls him Kim.

  2. Koreans say their last name first so Kim is correct. Taehyung is also correct. V is also correct. The writer was consistent and that was the most important thing!
