Last week, we’ve talked about the Korean celebrities who are expected to enlist in the military this year. It’s never easy to say goodbye, even if it’s just for a while. But here’s the good news: those who serve will eventually return to us! So let’s get ready to welcome back our favorite Korean actors and idols who will be discharged from the military in 2023.
Some big names have been discharged this year like EXO Baekhyun who appeared in “EXO’s Travel the World On a Ladder – Kaohsiung ＆ Kenting,” SHINee Taemin who appeared in “The Unit“, and Jang Ki Yong, who’s known for starring in the K-drama “Come and Hug Me.” We’re so excited to see who else will be joining them and rejoining the entertainment scene!
Seo Kang Jun
Seo Kang Jun, one of our beloved actors, will be discharged from the military this May 2023 and will be making his long-awaited return! Kang Jun is a member of the actor group 5urprise and has graced our screens in numerous K-dramas that we adore. He’s especially renowned for his outstanding performances in “When The Weather is Fine,” “Cunning Single Lady” and “Hwa Jung, the Princess of Light” which have touched our hearts and stayed with us long after the shows ended.
Gong Myung
Gong Myung, the talented actor, and singer who is also part of 5urprise will be completing his military service and is scheduled to be discharged in June 2023. Gong Myung has starred in many unforgettable K-dramas and films like “Be Melodramatic,” “Feel Good To Die,” and “Extreme Job.” We can’t wait to see him back in action!
Nam Da Reum
Nam Da Reum is also coming back this year! Da Reum enlisted in the military at the age of 21 two years ago and will be making his comeback this August 2023, and we’re excited to see what he has in store for us. Da Reum has portrayed the young or teenage versions of the male leads in many popular K-dramas, such as “While You Were Sleeping,” “Where Stars Land,” and “Radio Romance,” to name a few. We can’t wait to see him bring his unique talent and energy back to the screen!
Son Sang Yeon
Another rising star in the K-drama world, Son Sang Yeon, also enlisted in the military after wrapping up his work on “Racket Boys” in 2021. Sang Yeon is known for his roles as the younger version of the male lead in several K-dramas. He also played the charming male lead in the high school web drama “FAILing in Love.” With his talents and good looks, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us when he returns from the military! P.S. He attended the “2021 SBS Drama Awards” wearing his military uniform when he received his ‘Best New Actor’ award!
Block B P.O
Mark your calendars, because Pyo Ji Hoon, also known as P.O., is set to make a comeback this coming September 2023! P.O. is a member of the 2nd generation idol group, Block B, who has transitioned into acting. He has made appearances in several K-dramas, including “Love Temperature.” We can’t wait to see what he has in store for us when he returns to the spotlight!
Day6 Members
My Days, get ready to celebrate because 2023 is the year we’ve all been waiting for! It’s the year when all Day6 members will be reunited after completing their military service. The members enlisted at around the same time, with Sungjin and Young K already discharged from the military. Dowoon and Wonpil will also be discharged this year, which means we can expect new Day6 music soon!
ASTRO MJ
Great news for AROHA (ASTRO fans) because Kim Myung Jun, also known as ASTRO MJ, is set to make his return from military service this year! He is the first member of the boy group to enlist, in May 2022. As the main vocalist of the group, MJ is beloved for his heavenly vocals. We can’t wait to see him back on stage and hear his beautiful voice again!
Park Seo Ham
The idol-turned-actor who’s known for his appearance in the BL drama “Semantic Error” is also set to be back after enlisting last year! He made appearances in different shows such as “20th Century Boy and Girl” and “Dali and Cocky Prince!” Seo Ham is expected to be back this December 2023.
