I know it’s been months since we said goodbye to “The Penthouse,” a great mystery-thriller K-drama, but I’ve missed how it made me feel. Watching the makjang drama is a different kind of experience because I could really feel the excitement, frustration, and satisfaction. Each episode made my blood boil. I think that’s one of the best things about this show because it means there’s never a dull moment!

I watched “The Penthouse” season 1 way back last 2020. I was a big fan of the show and supported it until the season finale! I must say, there’s no K-drama like “The Penthouse,” so I am so happy to discover these two ongoing K-dramas (which haven’t released all of their episodes yet) that have the same vibes as my favorite show!

If you’re looking for a K-Drama that is female-centric, has dark vibes, and will make you anticipate what happens next, let me introduce to you “Becoming Witch” and “Gold Mask“!

Becoming Witch

This is Lee Yu Ri’s comeback drama after the hit makjang “Lie After Lie,” so you’ve probably heard about it. The black comedy mystery K-Drama “Becoming Witch,” which stars Lee Yu Ri, Lee Min Young, and Yoon So Yi, is about three women from very different backgrounds who encounter enemies they want to kill at a peculiar time in their lives.

The drama premiered last month, and only 3 episodes are out! BUT after watching just the first episode of this makjang drama, I’m sure you’ll be hooked. Now, let’s talk about the three badass female trios of the drama!

The drama centers on three women! The first woman is a housewife who learns that her husband is having an affair, the second woman is a daughter-in-law of a chaebol family whose marriage is not going well, and the third woman is a widowed wife who collected a large chunk of money from her husband’s life insurance policy! What an intriguing trio, right?

Seeing these three together produces a different kind of girl boss chemistry, just like what we experienced in “The Penthouse“! The drama also has a black comedy tag, so you will surely laugh at how hilarious this drama is. The only downside about this drama is that it only airs once a week, so it will be hard to wait for the next episode!

Gold Mask

Meet the hottest and most loved ongoing daily K-Drama right now! “Gold Mask” stars Cha Ye Ryun, Lee Hyun Jin, Na Young Hee, and Lee Hwi Hyang and depicts the mad fight of three women caused by false desires and greed. The drama is now on its 40th episode!

Yes, just like “The Penthouse,” the drama also features three influential women. The first female character lives like Cinderella, whom people envy because she married a man from a chaebol family. They had no idea that her husband’s family was mistreating her. The second female character is a woman full of greed and desires, and the third female character is a sociable person who owns a franchise restaurant chain!

I swear the dynamics of these three characters are so interesting that you won’t notice the time while watching. Since it’s a makjang drama, the show is getting more exciting with every episode knowing that the female lead is now on her way to revenge! She experienced a lot of misfortunes, so I’m looking forward to her next plan!

Other Female-Centric K-Dramas

Now, do you understand why I love those kinds of dramas? BUT if you’re not a fan of this genre, I got you! I’ll be recommending female-centric K-Dramas that I’m sure you’ll enjoy!

Into The Ring

Into the Ring” is one of the hidden gems that should have gotten more attention. It’s one of the best romantic comedies I’ve ever seen, and it interestingly talks about women in politics. The show also has an iconic trio of women that you’ll love and one of the healthiest couples you’ll see in a K-Drama!

Love Scene Number

If you’re looking for an 8 episode female-centric drama, you should check out “Love Scene Number“! A drama about four women, each going through a different turning point in their lives, contemplating what they truly want from dating and love. What I love most about this drama is that it is an anthology that features the stories of four different women who don’t interact throughout the show but live in the same timeline!

XX

This web drama features these two powerful women who have an ill-fated relationship. One of the best things about this drama is Hani and Hwang Seung Un’s great chemistry. Their characters’ tension and dynamics made this a must-watch drama!

So what are you all waiting for? Let’s all binge-watch these K-dramas, and the best thing is they are all available on KOCOWA!
