Don’t you just love fall films? How about this…thirty-six new movie titles are coming to KOCOWA+ just in time for fall! From hair-raising horror to adorable autumnal romances, there is a movie here for everyone.
Below is just a small taste of the films we have coming up! Check out the genre and see if there is one for you.
KOREAN ROMANCE MOVIES
Let’s get things started with romance because fall just feels like romance, to me anyway. If you’re looking for a fun romance that has fall written all over it, you might just be in the mood for “Very Ordinary Couple”, a second-chance romance where two lovers, that have broken up over a minor tiff, try to reconcile. Emphasis on try, but we have all been there, right? Other romance movies to check out are “Hot Young Bloods”, “Josée”, and “Enemies in Law”.
KOREAN THRILLER MOVIES
In addition to feeling a little romantic, fall is also about…*whispers*…fear, especially as we walk right into October. So, of course, we need to mention a few new terrifying films added to our repertoire. In “The Neighbors”, a mysterious death leads to a neighborhood questioning who among them might be a serial killer. Eep, I would need to watch that one with a friend.
Other terrifying fall films to check out are “The Hunt”, “The Terror Live”, and “Manhole”; and you might like the dark comedy “Room No. 7”.
KOREAN CRIME MOVIES
If you want to be scared but not necessarily terrified, crime movies might be what you should gravitate towards “Troll Factory” could scratch that suspense itch. “Troll Factory” is about a reporter who uncovers the existence of an internet troll factory, but in doing so, he also uncovers a deadly force.
Other crime movies to catch are “The Con Artists”, “Man on High Heels”, “Friend: The Great Legacy”, “An Ethics Lesson”, and “The Divine Move”.
KOREAN COMEDY MOVIES
It’s time for a laugh and a touch of revenge or maybe a touch of triumph is better? Either way, “Citizen of a Kind” is a movie for you to check out. This dark comedy is about a woman who gets scammed out of her entire savings, but instead of wallowing in her misery, she goes after the thieves to get it all back! Now that is someone to root for.
Other lighter comedies to check out are “The Sheriff in Town”, “Secretly Greatly”, “My Worst Neighbor”, “Hot Young Bloods”, and “Enemies in Law”.
KOREAN ACTION MOVIES
Need something a little different to sink your interest into? If action is what you crave, you might like the movie “Sinkhole”, which has possibly the single worst thing that could happen to a dinner party. In “Sinkhole”, a housewarming party turns into a battle for survival when a sinkhole engulfs an entire apartment. Talk about bad luck!
Other movies that keep the action and suspense high are “Drive”, “Usury Academy”, “Man on High Heels”, and “Gangnam Blues”.
KOREAN CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED MOVIES
If you are in the mood for a drama movie, or perhaps just a good sob, then just press play on our critically acclaimed film selection. One film that got a lot of praise was “Kim Ji-young: Born 1982”, which is based on a bestselling book of the same name and is about an ordinary woman in her 30s who suddenly shows signs of being inhabited by others. Does she have a split personality or is something else going on?
More critically acclaimed and dramatic films to watch are “12:12: The Day”, “The Fatal Encounter”, “Hope”, and “Eun Gyo”.
KOREAN SPORTS MOVIES
There is nothing like an underdog story to enjoy on a cold fall day with your pumpkin spice latte. Which is why we love sports movies. If you want a lovely little basketball underdog story to check out, look no further than “Rebound” about a ragtag group of high school kids who somehow make it all the way to the Korean National Basketball tournament.
Other sports movies to stream are the baseball movie “Perfect Game” and the running movie “Road to Boston”.
PLUS MORE FALL FILMS TO ENJOY
On top of these movies, many more new ones are coming to KOCOWA+ like the films “The Face Reader”, “The Long Way Home”, and “71 Into the Fire” among many others.
Be sure to check them all out this fall on KOCOWA+ and follow along as we highlight new fall films in our newsletter. Happy watching!
