K-Drama characters that are Boyfriend Materials? No, let’s upgrade it to Husband Materials!
I know we all swoon over K-Drama boys who are like walking green flags! The kind of K-Drama boys who make our hearts flutter for their different love languages. Now let’s meet some of them who can be not just your K-Drama boyfriend but also K-Drama husband!
Hwang Hee Tae of “Youth of May”
One of my favorite characters ever, Hwang Hee Tae (portrayed by Lee Do Hyun), is from the romance melodrama “Youth of May.” A timeless love story set during May 1980 between the Seoul National University College of Medicine student, Hwang Hee Tae, and a passionate nurse Kim Myeong Hee.
Hee Tae is one of the perfect examples when I say best man ever. He is a hardworking top student from one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. He is also a respectful son & helpful brother, and an activist who knows what is right from wrong.
Hee Tae is anything you can dream of. He is understanding, knows how to accept his mistakes, is patient, and will do anything for Myeong Hee. He will always be there for you whenever you need him. You can see how genuine he is with his words and actions. Have you seen how he looks at Myeong Hee? Truly a boyfriend and husband material.
Park Joong Young of “Do You Like Brahms?“
A boyfriend material from head to toe is Park Joong Young (portrayed by Kim Min Jae) of the romance drama “Do You Like Brahms?” This K-Drama is a romance melodrama between a business major graduate, Chae Song Ah, who wants to follow her passion by attending music school and a talented, famous pianist, Park Joong Young.
Joong Young is one of those soft K-Drama boys who is nice to everyone he meets and knows how to respect everyone. Even with his first encounter with Song Ah, he made sure that she’d feel comfortable around him by giving her space while not making her feel alone. He looks out for her and does his best to remove her from awkward situations.
Joong Young is also a great boyfriend because he always reassures Song Ah of his feelings for her. He is always there whenever Song Ah is having a hard time. Joong Young and Song Ah both have a great relationship because they are open and they always make sure that they communicate to avoid any misunderstandings.
Choi Ung of “Our Beloved Summer”
A literal walking green flag is Choi Ung (portrayed by Choi Woo Shik) of “Our Beloved Summer.” A romantic comedy between a former couple who is forced to work together again when the documentary they filmed 10 years ago goes viral.
Choi Ung is the human embodiment of the word patience. His love languages are words of affirmation and acts of service. He is so nice to everyone around him, and he tries his best to make sure that he won’t hurt anyone with his words and actions.
Lee Jeong Hoon of “Find Me in Your Memory“
One of the best K-Drama male leads ever is Lee Jeong Hoon (portrayed by Kim Dong Wook) of the romance drama “Find Me in Your Memory.” This drama is a love story between Lee Jeong Hoon, an anchorman who remembers every second of his life, and Yeo Ha Jin, a top actress who forgot her painful past to live.
Jeong Hoon is the kind of boyfriend who will love, protect, and support you no matter what. He knows that Ha Jin, his girlfriend, is her own person. He knows when to give her space and also respects the job that’s making her happy.
I really think we all need a mature, wise, and affectionate man like Jeong Hoon in our lives who will always be there for us whenever we feel down and will help us to become the best version of ourselves.
Jang Jae Yeol of “It’s Okay, That’s Love“
A character that everyone loves is Jang Jae Yeol (portrayed by Zo In Sung) of the romance medical drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love.” This drama follows the story of a best-selling author who’s experiencing mental health issues and a psychiatrist who became his roommate. A drama ahead of its time that tackled mental health, traumas, and the proper way of treating them.
Jae Yeol is a man of consent and is respectful to every woman he meets. He knows the importance of mental health and advocates that we should acknowledge and try to understand each other’s pains.
Despite his health difficulties, it doesn’t stop Jae Yeol from being the best boyfriend ever to his girlfriend. He is open to her, always understands her feelings, bickers with her but at the end of the day he will always be there to make her feel that she’s the most wonderful thing that happened to his life. This drama really set the bar too high.
Jung Jun Hyung of “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo“
The cute and playful boyfriend is Jung Jun Hyung (portrayed by Nam Joo Hyuk) of the romantic coming of age drama “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo.” This drama follows the story of 20-year-old weightlifter Kim Bok Joo and Jung Jun Hyung, a talented swimmer with a playful personality.
Jung Jun Hyung is the kind of boyfriend we all want because he has looks and personality! He is playful and super fun to be with. A mood maker who understands his girlfriend’s feelings and won’t do anything that will make her feel jealous.
Jung Yi Hyun of “Happiness”
The husband material is Jung Yi Hyun (portrayed by Park Hyung Sik) of “Happiness.” An apocalyptic thriller drama set in a time when there’s a worldwide pandemic known as “mad person disease”, this drama follows the story of Yoon Sae Bom, a member of a Special Operation Unit police squad, and Jung Yi Hyun, a detective.
Despite the drama being an apocalyptic thriller, it doesn’t fail to make you fall in love with the main character, Jung Yi Hyun. He is an understanding, caring, and soft-spoken husband who can risk his own life for his wife.
There are a lot more K-Drama characters out there that are husband material and you can start watching them all by subscribing and watching on KOCOWA!
