There are so many fundamental elements that make a drama worth your time! The actors starring in them is one of the deciding factors to whether you will watch them or not.  Let’s take a look at some of 2020’s best Korean actors!

Editor’s Note: In our humble opinion, all the actors on this list are equally good!

Park Seo Jun

Park Seo Jun played Park Sae Ro Yi in “Itaewon Class,” a smart, yet honest restaurant owner who wants to take revenge on a powerful man responsible for his father’s death. His acting is great, as usual. But his character this time won fans’ hearts in a more profound  way as compared to his other popular and more light-hearted rom-com dramas.

Park Sae Ro Yi is an honest person who will never betray people around him. He remains an upright person and doesn’t waver when there are easier ways to take revenge for his father. The pure-hearted man also never gives up on the people around him even though they may be incompetent and hinder him at times. Instead, he helps them grow to become better people. Sae Ro Yi is simply a warm-hearted person that everyone would want to befriend!

Other Dramas Starring Park Seo Jun: “Fight For My Way,” “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth,” “She Was Pretty.”

Lee Joon Gi

Lee Joon Gi has always been recognized as a versatile actor, and he has proven this again with  his latest drama “Flower of Evil.” In the psychological thriller, he plays a loving husband and father, but Baek Hee Sung is capable of murder underneath that seemingly innocent exterior.

The actor can quickly go from being angelic-looking to an emotionless-looking person who speaks in a creepy, monotonous manner that will make your skin crawl.

Other Dramas Starring Lee Joon Gi: “Scholar Who Walks the Night,” “Gunman in Joseon,” “Two Weeks,” “Tale of Arang.”

Kim Soo Hyun

This is the first drama that Kim Soo Hyun acted in after completing his mandatory military service. His last drama before he enlisted was “The Producers,” released in 2015. Without a doubt, a 5-year gap would naturally have expectations heightened up dramatically, but yet, his long-awaited comeback to the small screen didn’t let anyone down.

In this drama, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” he played a caregiver named Moon Kang Tae who works in a psychiatric hospital. Moon Kang Tae is a lovable character who has a lot of patience for the people around him, especially for his autistic older brother and the female lead Ko Moon Young who is a little eccentric. It’s needless to say though, that Kim Soo Hyun contributed hugely in making his character lovable with his charm and great acting skills.

Other Dramas Starring Kim Soo Hyun: “My Love From Another Star,” “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” “Dream High.”

Namkoong Min

Nearly every drama that Namkoong Min acted in became very popular, and this itself is already impressive. “Stove League” was no exception. He played Baek Seung Soo, a professional baseball manager of Dreams. Baek Seung Soo is always making bold decisions even though he knows no one would support his decisions. He’s extremely intelligent, but is mysterious in a way that he doesn’t reveal all his plans beforehand. This keeps viewers curious about what’s going to happen next because Seung Soo is just unpredictable. It may be difficult to portray how his character always has a plan and is always creating new strategies for his team because Seung Soo rarely expresses it outright, but Namkoong Min nailed it so well.

Other Dramas Starring Namkoong Min: “Doctor Prisoner,” “The Undateables,” “Distorted,” “Good Manager.”

Park Bo Gum

Park Bo Gum’s roles are always unforgettable. In “Love in the Moonlight,” he played a charismatic crowned prince that had viewers falling for him in a heartbeat. This year, he played an aspiring actor in “Record of Youth” named Sa Hye Jun. Throughout the drama, his character has to take on various roles in different dramas and movies, and this is where Park Bo Gum’s acting really shines. When Sa Hye Jun takes on the role of a villain, Park Bo Gum’s face turns sinister. But as soon as the filming ends, Bo Gum quickly switches back to the sweet-looking Hye Jun again through micro-expressions. This left viewers in awe.

Other Dramas Starring Park Bo Gum: “Love in the Moonlight.”

  1. How in the world is Hyun Bin not on this list?Unless one been hiding under a rock or has quarantine brain fog…it’s pretty obvious that HB has taken 2020 by storm! Crash Landing On You’s huge success and popularity continues to sweep the world and gain international recognition. HB received the Presidential Award for Korean pop culture and arts, Baeksangs popularity award among others, had multiple huge CF deals in SK and internationally, and became the first ever Korean global ambassador for Omega luxury brand. But ok..we’re just gonna pretend that any of these other actors had a bigger year. Right.
