The ultimate Idol Olympics, “Idol Star Athletics Championships“, is making its highly anticipated comeback this Korean Thanksgiving (Chuseok) 2024!
“Idol Star Athletics Championships“, more commonly known as ISAC, is MBC’s reality television sports program that features celebrities, most notably K-Pop idols, singers, and groups, competing in a range of multi-sport events. It’s the perfect time for fans to witness their favorite idols in action, not just on stage, but in exciting physical competitions!
The sports in ISAC consist of athletics, gymnastics, bowling, football, swimming, basketball, archery, breakdancing, dancesport, fencing, table tennis, e-sports, and much more. What makes this show exciting is we get to see who will take home the gold and, of course, those funny and heartwarming behind-the-scenes moments between idols.
ISAC typically airs twice a year—once during the Lunar New Year holiday in the winter and once during the Chuseok holiday in the fall. These special broadcasts have become a tradition that fans look forward to.

The “2024 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special” will feature top idols and entertainers, with a fantastic lineup of MCs to guide us through the fun-filled games. Jun Hyun Moo, Lee Chan Won, Kang Daniel, and NMIXX’s Haewon will serve as the main MCs, while rapper DinDin and STAYC’s Sieun will join as supporting MCs inside the stadium.
Filming for the event was completed back in August, and it’s set to air this Chuseok! A new and exciting addition to this year’s ISAC is the inclusion of breakdancing, which has recently been recognized as an official sport for the 2024 Paris Olympics. A lot of us are eager to see our favorite idols give their all in both new and classic events like track-and-field, futsal, archery, and dance sports.
Since filming has wrapped, and lucky fans were able to cheer for their idols in the stadium, there’s a lot to look forward to in the official broadcast! One highlight that fans are already buzzing about is when Kang Daniel joined WayV in the relay race. The WayV members invited him when they realized they needed one more person to complete their team, and Kang Daniel gladly accepted. Moments like these show the spontaneous fun that makes ISAC a must-watch.

Some of the Best Moments of The Past Years in “Idol Star Athletics Championships“
Over the years, Idol Star Athletic Championships (ISAC) has gifted fans with many unforgettable moments, where idols have shown not only their talent on stage but also their athletic skills. One of the most iconic moments in ISAC history was the intense archery match between top K-Pop groups BTS, EXO, and SEVENTEEN in the “2017 Idol Star Athletics Championship“. We were glued to their screens as BTS’s V, Jimin, and Jin faced off against EXO’s Chanyeol and Suho, and SEVENTEEN’s Vernon, Jun, and Woozi.
Another moment that will never be forgotten is when Red Velvet’s Irene broke the camera lens with her bullseye shot during the “2018 Idol Star Athletic Championships – New Year Special“. What made this moment even more special was Jun Hyun Moo’s hilarious promise to buy everyone chicken if Irene hit the bullseye, and when she did, the crowd went wild! It was a perfect mix of skill and fun that only ISAC can provide.
In the “2016 Idol Star Athletic Championships – Chuseok Special,” TWICE, GFRIEND, and EXID members competed in an epic 400M relay run. It was an exciting yet light-hearted competition, showing not only their athleticism but also their teamwork and determination. Watching these top girl groups race against each other while still sharing playful moments made the event super exciting.
Fast forward to the “2020 Idol Star Athletics Championships – New Year Special“, SF9’s Rowoon grabbed everyone’s attention during a soccer match against Stray Kids’ Chan. Rowoon, who is known for his love of soccer, impressed both the audience and commentators with his effortless goal-scoring skills.
