One thing about K-dramas is that they always introduce us to new genres and interesting shows. While many good shows are airing right now, such as Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won’s “Queen Of Tears,” which is currently the #1 K-drama, or Kim Nam Joo and Cha Eun Woo’s “Wonderful World,” which is generating a lot of buzz due to Eun Woo’s character, we won’t be focusing on those popular K-dramas everyone is watching. Instead, we’ll be talking about the new shows that deserve more audience and appreciation as they are as good as the ones mentioned above.

Nothing Uncovered

nothing uncovered kocowa kdrama

Headlined by the one and only Kim Ha Neul, “Nothing Uncovered” centers on Seo Jung Won, an investigative reporter accused of murder, who teams up with an ace detective to unravel a series of crimes.

This drama is based on a popular web novel and also stars Yeon Woo Jin and Jang Seung Jo as part of its main cast. The first episodes of the drama delve into the introduction of the characters and their connection with each other, as Kim Ha Neul’s character is married to Jang Seung Jo’s character and is the ex-lover of Yeon Woo Jin’s character. The main highlight of this drama is it centers around an investigative reporter who’s not afraid to expose all sorts of crimes by powerful individuals and got caught up in a murder case where she became the suspect herself.

What I like the most about this drama is if you’re a fan of mysteries and thrillers is you’ll love it too because this drama has a lot to unpack and you can feel it by watching each episode. Even with just a few episodes in, you can see that every episode has a shocking factor that will make you hooked and can’t wait for the next episodes to come.

Beauty and Mr. Romantic

For those seeking heartwarming romance and comedy, “Beauty and Mr. Romantic,” starring Im Soo Hyang and Ji Hyun Woo, offers the perfect blend. This drama tells the romance story of an actress who hits rock bottom overnight and a producer’s effort to try and get her back on her feet because he loves her.

Written by “Young Lady and Gentleman” writer, we can definitely expect a lot from comedy to romance and even a lot of heartwarming moments between the characters. One of the big advantages of family weekend dramas is their huge cast, so we can expect to see them utilizing each cast member. The first episodes delved into the teenage characters of the lead portrayed by Lee Seol Ah and Moon Seong Hyun, showing us the deep connection between the lead couple, and we’re all excited to see how their romance story will continue after adulthood.

Su Ji and U Ri

Another captivating family K-drama worth watching is “Su Ji and U Ri,” starring Hahm Eun Jung and Baek Sung Hyun. The drama tells the heartwarming and relatable romantic story about star doctor Jin Soo Ji, who experiences a fall from her peak, and rookie doctor Chae Woo Ri as they build an unconventional family together.

This drama is perfect for daily viewing, offering episodes to enjoy every day! The initial episodes are particularly engaging, led by idol-turned-actress Hahm Eun Jung and talented actor Baek Sung Hyun. As a family daily drama, we can anticipate familiar tropes while experiencing heartwarming moments due to the relatable characters.

The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection

To those who don’t know it yet, yes the highly awaited season 2 of “The Escape of the Seven” is here! “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” will depict the retaliation of the seven people who have returned from hell against a new evil force that has allied with Matthew Lee. Those who have watched the first season or just know writer Kim Soon Ok will understand the unpredictable nature of this drama.

Following the cliffhanger conclusion of the previous season and the series of shocking twists and revelations, season 2 maintains the suspense. Knowing writer Kim Soon Ok, we can anticipate numerous plot twists, especially with the introduction of a new character (CNBlue’s Lee Jung Shin), who appears to be teaming up with Matthew Lee. “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” remains faithful to its makjang genre, that time seems to fly by when watching the show.

Still undecided on your next watch? You can catch these four shows, spanning different genres from mystery, family, romance, and comedy to melodrama and makjang, all available for streaming on KOCOWA+ with professional English subtitles.
