If you listen to K-Pop then I’m sure you’ve heard the news: BTS members are starting to enlist in the military. It’s hard for a lot of fans to imagine even if the acronym for their idols’ fanbase is “A.R.M.Y”.

Fortunately, many A.R.M.Ys will have BTS content to hold them over until all of the BTS members complete their military service in 2025. The oldest member, Jin, released a solo single before enlisting back in December. Now rapper j-hope is doing the same thing. He’s done multiple solo projects up until this point, but on March 2nd, he released the music video for a new song called “on the street.” The song is a collaboration with the prolific J.Cole, an American rapper known for his introspective lyrics.

Check it out on HYBE’s Official YouTube channel:

As you can see (and hear), “on the street” showcases j-hope and J.Cole’s rapping with a little bit of singing by the latter at the end. The simple yet catchy hip-hop melody evokes a sense of nostalgia, and the whistling is actually done by j-hope himself. It pairs nicely with lyrics that thank the A.R.M.Y for their love and support over the years. He acknowledges that everything he’s done has been for you.

What a beautiful message!

On February 26th, 2023, it was announced that j-hope began his military enlistment, so “on the street” is such a touching parting present to fans. What did you think of it? I’m sure its wonderful lyrics, and the sound of j-hope’s whistling, will keep us company while we wait.

Do you know what else can keep us company? BTS reality shows and interviews! Check them out on KOCOWA+, and before you know it, the wait will be over.
