Crushology 101 episode 7

Episode 7 of “Crushology 101″ opens with the aftermath of where episode 6 ended, with Jae Yeol kissing Bunny right in front of his ex, Yeo Reum. The camera had lingered on Bunny’s wide-eyed shock and closed, stunned lips. Her expression, muted. Yeo Reum, who had witnessed the scene, was left unsettled, Jae Yeol was left standing awkwardly, and Ji Won was there to save the day and drive Bunny home.

After a confusing night filled with emotions, the next morning, Bunny finds Jae Yeol and asks directly if that kiss meant they were dating or if she was just a convenient excuse. Jae Yeol can’t really answer, leaving Bunny disappointed and angry. She expected a little bit of honesty, but feels used instead.

Bunny spends time with her friends, including Ji Won, to take her mind off of Jae Yeal. But nothing can completely free her mind of him.

To make matters worse, Bunny keeps running into Jae Yeol with his ex, Yeo Reum. Each encounter chips away at her trust, especially since Yeo Reum is clearly trying to win Jae Yeol back, and Bunny can’t help but wonder if he’s really over his ex. Jae Yeol tries to talk things out with Bunny, but every conversation is awkward, and him dressing like a bunny to hand out invitations to the big campus event later on doesn’t help.

On the sidelines, Ji Won quietly supports Bunny. He’s there when she needs a friend, offering comfort and encouragement, but he’s also wrestling with his own feelings for her. Ji Won is clearly (in my opinion) the better man. His gentle, calming presence is what Bunny needs while dealing with this emotional rollercoaster of Jae Yeol and all his attached drama.

Case in point, Jae Yeol’s family life is a mess. While at school one day, a lot of students witness his mother getting snatched up by the hair by the wife of the man she’s seeing! This is beyond embarrassing. Jae Yeol steps in to apologize and pulls his mother away to the stairway to reason with her. His mother insists she didn’t know the professor was married and questions why she should be blamed for someone else’s deception! Jae Yeol suddenly realizes that his mother is in pain from this incident too, and is left feeling protective but also burdened by guilt over how he treated her and embarrassment from the other students seeing that incident. But he does see that he can be selfish and not think of others.

Jae Yeol finds Bunny and emotional dumps all over her, telling her his actions were selfish and that he never meant to take advantage of her. Bunny softens a bit at this apology.

But soon after, Jae Yeol falls ill and misses school. Bunny, noticing his absence and is worried about him. She decides to bring him juk (or porridge). But when she arrives at his apartment Yeo Reum answers, not Jae Yeol! She tells her Jae Yeol is asleep. This is a gut punch for Bunny, and she leaves, more confused and hurt than ever.

We find out that Yeo Reum let herself in, and Jae Yeol was sleeping and didn’t even know she was there when Bunny came over. To Yeo Reum’s credit, she says that “a friend” left Jae Yeol the juk instead of saying she brought it herself.

The big event on campus that everyone has been waiting for is finally here – Artists’ Night, featuring a Confession Tree where students submit anonymous love confessions. The MC of the night will read them, giving the person who wrote it a chance to have their wish come true.

The MC is, of course, Yeo Reum, and the person filming this event right by her side is Jae Yeol. The night proceeds with oohs and ahhs as confessions are read. When a particular confession is read saying they want to spend Christmas with their crush, Bunny, Yeo Reum asks Bunny to come onto the stage to see if the person who wrote the message will come onto the stage as well. Everyone in the know, knows that Jae Yeol probably wrote this confession.

But he doesn’t go onto the stage! Whether this is because he can’t or won’t or just isn’t confident or whatever, the more time lingers, the more awkward and embarrassing this gets for Bunny.

Suddenly, Ji Won steps up and walks on stage, claiming the confession to possibly spare Bunny from embarrassment? Or was the author really Ji Won? We don’t know!

Crushology 101 Episode 8

Episode 8 of “Crushology 101″ picks up right in the awkward moment of the festival, with Bunny standing on stage after the Confession Tree confession is read.

Ji Won steps heroically onto the stage, possibly to spare Bunny from embarrassment or to claim the confession card as his own. Bunny is bewildered and isn’t sure if Ji Won really wrote the confession or if someone else (cough, Jae Yeol, cough) is hiding their feelings in plain sight. Whatever the case, the crowd buzzes with energy, and even Yeo Reum is caught off guard.

Jae Yeol is left quiet, his face torn between jealousy and regret, and, of course, Bunny can’t help but notice. Jae Yeol pulls Ji Won to his favorite place to chat with Ji Won, the stairwell, and confronts him about the confession card. Ji Won is basically like, how can you say I didn’t write it? Did you write it and leave Bunny there on the stage by herself? Because that makes you a horrible person if so. Jae Yeol has nothing to say to that because he knows it’s true.

Meanwhile, Yeo Reum’s world is falling apart when devastating news spreads that her mother has been caught in a fraud scandal, sending Yeo Reum to the center of unwanted attention. When she hears the news, Yeo Reum tries to keep her composure, but her phone drops from her hands and she struggles to maintain her sanity.

Jae Yeol, seeing her distress, rushes to her side to help pick up her phone and lead her away. Bunny watches this happen from a distance.

Later, Yeo Reum finally comes clean to Jae Yeol about why she broke up with him in the first place. It turns out that her mother is a scam artist and was pressuring her to get money from Jae Yeol. When she refused, her mother went behind her back to Jae Yeol’s mother to get money, embarrassing Yeo Reum to no end. Yeo Reum gave back the money to Jae Yeol’s mother and ended things with Jae Yeol without telling him the real reason. This truth leaves Jae Yeol stunned and feeling a bit guilty about how he had treated Yeo Reum.

For a moment, it looks like old feelings might resurface between Jae Yeol and Yeo Reum. They start to spend more time together to reconcile their feelings.

While all this is happening, Ji Won keeps trying to prove he’s the better choice for Bunny. He’s there to catch her when a stack of boxes nearly falls on her, and he’s quick to ask her out for a meal. Bunny, more confused than ever, is comforted by Ji Won’s kindness, but her heart is still clearly tangled up with Jae Yeol. Even so, she tries out dating Ji Won.
Bunny is a mess of emotions with the kindhearted Ji Won and the distant yet sometimes warm Jae Yeol. She admits to her mother that she has no idea what’s happening with her feelings anymore.

To make matters worse, Bunny, Ji Won, Jae Yeol, and Yeo Reum end up at the same restaurant on date night and are forced to share a table. Anyone at any moment could say no, but everyone is trying to prove they are okay with this. No problems at all!

Too bad the air is so thick with tension and unspoken words that the chef could slice it up and serve it on a platter. Jae Yeol’s jealousy finally bubbles over because, out of everyone here, he is the one who can’t contain his issues for one minute, let alone a complete dinner. So, in true Jae Yeol fashion, he explodes all his complaints on Bunny. Bunny, exhausted by her emotions, leaves with Ji Won.

But this time, Jae Yeol doesn’t let her go. After sincerely apologizing to Yeo Reum for misunderstanding what she went through, he puts a real end to their relationship and runs after Bunny.

Ji Won tries to convince Bunny not to go to Jae Yeol, but Bunny’s mind is made up. She runs to Jae Yeol and initiates a kiss. After all the drama, jealousy, and emotional detours, they might now be an official couple!
