I think I know which film we will be anticipating the most because Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung Min’s latest action thriller “The Point Men” is making its US premiere in a few days!

Everybody knows that Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung Min are two of the best actors of this generation, right? They have been in the industry for more than a decade already and their filmography is stacked with box office successes. Having them both in the same film is like a dream come true; we know to expect excellent performances in an exciting action thriller.

“The Point Men”

It is the first Korean film to be set in Jordan and it is about a diplomat who’s forced to work with a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent and risked their lives on a dangerous mission to rescue Korean hostages abducted by a violent Taliban group in the Middle East. The film garnered much attention since it is based on the true events of the 2007 South Korean hostage crisis in Afghanistan when 23 South Korean missionaries were captured and held hostage.

One of Korea’s most skilled diplomats, Jung Jae Ho, will be portrayed by Hwang Jung Min, and NIS special agent and an expert in the Middle East, Park Dae Sik, will be portrayed by Hyun Bin. Yim Soon Rye, director of the acclaimed film “Little Forest!”, will helm this project.

“The Point Men” has already made its premiere in South Korea last January 18, 2023, and it already surpasses 1 million viewers! The film ruled the Korean box office at No. 1 over the Lunar New Year holiday and it is expected to continue its success as it has been at the top of the box office for seven consecutive days and is scheduled to premiere in different countries around the globe!

Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung Min’s Shows To Watch

While waiting for “The Point Men” to release in the US, here are some of our favorite dramas and movies from Hwang Jung Min and Hyun Bin that a lot shouldn’t miss!

Secret Garden

This romantic comedy has earned Hyun Bin his first Daesang (Grand Prize) at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards. It’s about a rich young CEO and a poor stuntwoman who discovered that their souls have switched bodies! It’s a romance story of how these two found love despite exchanging souls and class differences.

Hyde, Jekyll Me

The drama follows Hyun Bin as he portrays Goo Seo Jin, a third-generation chaebol who suffers from multiple personality disorder. Seo Jin’s usual cold, cynical, and merciless attitude gives way to Robin, who is warm and friendly and has a savior complex once his pulse rate goes above 150. While trying to shut down a money-losing theme park, he encounters the circus master (Han Ji Min) trying to stop him from closing down the failing amusement park.

A Violent Prosecutor

Though Hwang Jung Min has been in several movies, this is one of his finest. Byun Jae Wook, the short-tempered protagonist of “A Violent Prosecutor,” is a prosecutor who is falsely accused of murdering a defendant while interrogating him. Five years later, he makes a deal with a con artist: in exchange for helping him be out of jail, the con man will help Jae Wook clear his name and help him carry out his plan outside of prison.

“The Negotiation”

If in “The Point Men,” Hyun Bin is a special agent fighting the terrorist group, here in “The Negotiation,” he’s the hostage taker! This is the story of a 21-hour fierce negotiation between an ace crisis negotiator and a cold-blooded hostage taker. P.S. This is Hyun Bin’s first project together with his wife, Son Ye Jin!

“The Point Men” will be hitting the theatres soon so don’t forget to mark your calendars and watch this film on the big screen! If you’re looking for more, you can check out Hwang Jung Min and Hyun Bin’s shows on KOCOWA!
