Author Mark Twain once said life was stranger than fiction, and Ryan Gosling and Jimin have just demonstrated how. On July 19, the Barbie movie’s Twitter posted a video of Ryan greeting Jimin and pointing out they wore the same outfit. The outfit in question is a dark cowboy-inspired shirt with white flowers and tons of fringe. Both men pair it with dark jeans. Ryan’s character Ken wears it in the Barbie movie while Jimin wore it in BTS’s “Permission to Dance” music video.
Check out the video below to see Ryan joke about it with a straight face, call Jimin another “Ken”, and give him a special gift:
As if that didn’t excite everyone with access to the internet, Jimin posted a response days later. He said:
“Hi Ryan, hi Ken. It’s Jimin, congrats on your big release, fans are excited to see your video, so thank you so much. I could see that you look great in my outfit, thank you so much for this guitar, I really love it, and I look forward to watching ‘Barbie,’ Gooo Barbie!”
What a random, hilarious, and sweet exchange between two global celebrities. But something makes it even better. Jimin’s favorite movie is “The Notebook” starring…you guessed it: Ryan Gosling! So, I know he’ll treasure the gift. And his honorary Ken status.
The Barbie movie was released on July 21 in the U.S. to rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike. I saw it over the weekend and it’s definitely a must-watch! I’m sure Jimin would agree.
