Why Everyone Is Currently Obsessing Over “Crushology 101

The Feel-Good Campus K-drama Romance

Watching the first episodes of “Crushology 101” feels like being transported back to the golden days of feel-good rom-coms, and I absolutely love it! It gives off the same heartwarming vibes as “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo” and “Cheer Up” — both coming-of-age romances set in a university, full of comedy, youth, and heart-fluttering moments we all enjoyed.

The story follows Ban Hee Jin, a model student who goes through a heartbreaking first love. Just when she’s ready to move on, four handsome men unexpectedly enter her life, completely turning her world upside down!

A Relatable, Bubbly, and Charismatic Female Lead

Another reason to love this drama is its relatable and bubbly female lead, who openly admits she loves seeing handsome men — and honestly, who doesn’t? It’s hilarious how she mentions it multiple times throughout the drama!

Ban Hee Jin (portrayed by Roh Jeong Eui) is the kind of female lead you can’t help but root for. She believes that loving someone for who they are is more important than looks. However, after getting hurt by her ex-boyfriend, who was only using her to brag to his friends and didn’t genuinely care about her, she vows to only get involved with good-looking guys from now on. And guess what? Life takes a crazy turn, and that’s exactly what happens!

A K-drama Full Of Visuals

Aside from Roh Jeong Eui’s angelic visuals, she is surrounded by not one, two, or three, but four handsome men who come into her life after her disastrous breakup! The first guy she gets tangled up with is Hwang Jae Yeol (played by Lee Chae Min), the department representative of the visual design department. Their first meeting wasn’t great — Hee Jin accidentally broke his tablet! To make it up to him, she has to take notes for him, and this leads to a fun enemies-to-friends dynamic full of bickering.

The next guy is Cha Ji Won (played by Jo Joon Young), the warm and charming campus crush who also happens to be a chaebol. He and Hee Jin meet when he asks her for directions, and they quickly become good friends who enjoy hanging out together. Then there’s Jo A Rang (played by Kim Hyun Jin), a talented sculptor in the art world and someone Hee Jin is a huge fan of. They meet at an exhibition where Hee Jin doesn’t realize A Rang is actually the famous sculptor “Jay.” He even asks her out for coffee, and a budding romance starts between them. And last but not least, we have Jin Hyun O (played by Hong Min Gi), Bahn Hee Jin’s first love! We haven’t met him yet because he will be making his first appearance in next week’s episode — and we can’t wait!

It will be exciting to see which of the four handsome male leads — each with a distinct personality — will capture her heart: the tsundere type, the warm boy-next-door, the flirty charmer, or her unforgettable first love!

Besides the main love story, the supporting characters are adding extra fun to the drama, too! From Hee Jin’s loyal friends, to Jae Yeol’s buddy, and even the unexpected scene-stealer — the pink scooter! Plus, Hee Jin’s parents also make things interesting, especially since they are her ultimate standard when it comes to relationships.
