On March 29, BTS starred in their own talk show,2021 Special Talk Show – Let’s BTS,” which KOCOWA has available on demand with professional English, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles. This was just four days after RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook appeared on the variety show, “You Quiz On the Block.”

There were so many heartwarming and fun moments in the 100-minute special. We managed to narrow down our favorite segments.

The group started off with their Slow Jam remix of their all-English hit single, “Dynamite.” Yes, it’s a disco-pop song and they’re all fantastic dancers. But the group kept their performance lowkey and showed off their vocal chops and sweet harmonies, rather than choreography. Shortly afterwards, J-Hope got the show off to a relaxed start and half jokingly said that when they appeared on English-language shows, RM did most of the talking, while the rest of the band members reacted to what he said. Suga added that they agreed to be on 2021 Special Talk Show – Let’s BTS,” because they were confident that emcee Shin Dong Yeob would lead the conversation for them, since they’re not eloquent speakers. Of course, we know that the members of BTS are very eloquent. But they were being characteristically modest about their own abilities.

It’s been widely known that Jungkook – the group’s Golden Maknae (maknae means youngest) – was wooed by several big labels. But one of the top reasons that he chose Big Hit Entertainment was because of how much he admired RM. As he said on the special, “RM-hyung is my eternal leader.”

All the group members agreed that RM is a great group leader. Embarrassed by all the attention, RM said he’s only a good leader because the other members pull their own weight and handle all the things he’s not capable of doing. Their response? “You are the best leader!”

Of all the BTS members, Suga has vocalized most often about his desire to perform a BTS song at the Grammys. Last year, they appeared with Lil Nas X to perform “Seoul Town Road.” But that song was a collaboration between Lil Nas X and RM, rather than a BTS number.

They look thrilled when opera star Jo Sumi – the only Korean artist to have won a Grammy Award – appeared via video to congratulate them. She pointed out that in Rome, there is a cappuccino named after Jimin. Still in awe after listening to her words of encouragement, V said, “We made it.”

Jin talked about how RM pointed out that their Grammy performance would be a historic moment not just for South Korea, but also for their respective future children and grandchildren. One of the things that endears BTS to so many people is their honesty. They admitted they were disappointed they didn’t win an award. However, they looked at it this way: There were hundreds of nominations. But less than 20 artists were allowed to perform. As Suga pointed out, they felt like winners, because they got to perform their own song, “Dynamite.” So…winning

It’s undeniable that BTS are multi-talented as singers, songwriters and producers. But they are also trained and highly skilled dancers. They’ve all said how J-Hope is an exceptional choreographer. And they added that when they receive a compliment from him (“You dance really well!”), they are filled with pride.

RM complimented Jimin and talked about how multi-talented he is: “He is so talented that he hypnotizes people with his performances when he’s on stage. Jimin is in charge of a very important axis on our performances and is an amazing idol.” Jimin cutely smiled at the compliment while acknowledging how wonderful his bandmates are.

Soccer legend Park Ji Sung taped a video message to let BTS know how proud he is of them and how they accomplished what he never thought was possible: a Korean group’s music being played overseas in football stadiums. His wife, Kim Min Ji, pointed out that she heard passersby in London singing BTS songs and that they are enormously popular overseas. ARMY already knew this, of course. But the band members looked so happy to hear Ji Sung sing their praises.

After listing some of the best compliments they’ve given each other, the group concluded that the best is, “Hey, good job!” Why? Because they work so hard at everything that they do. The expectation is that they’ll be perfect. And when they deliver – or think they did well enough – it feels like they did indeed do a good job.

With that all that said …  Hey, BTS! You’ve done a great job. Congratulations and continued success. Fighting

And for all you fans who can’t get enough of the septet, you may re-watch 2021 Special Talk Show – Let’s BTS as many times as you’d like. Now it’s your turn. Let us know which segments were your favorite moments, OK?
