Happy 2021, everyone! One of the most popular shows streaming on KOCOWA is “Running Man,” which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2020. Due to licensing issues, some of the older episodes aren’t available to viewers on any legal streaming site. But we have a treat lined up for you: every Sunday and Thursday we will be LIVE streaming classic episodes of Running Man courtesy of our LIVE feature, including real-time chatting with other viewers.
Starting Sunday, January 10, classic “Running Man” episodes will air from its first season in 2010. Do you remember Song Joong-ki was an original cast member? He quit the series after Episode 41 (in April 2011), to concentrate on his flourishing acting career.
LIVE is a fun perk for subscribers. Last year, KOCOWA even offered viewers an exclusive live “Running Man” episode, where the cast members attempted to solve a CLUE-esque mystery. Web viewers got in on the action by enjoying real-time chatting during all the shenanigans. In fact, there were so many participants that the site crashed. Oops!
The weekly English episode stream will start at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Sundays. If you get mixed up with time zones, don’t worry, because KOCOWA does all the hard work for you with a real-time 24 hour countdown, which comes in handy. And as always on KOCOWA, there will be English subtitles. But please keep in mind that after the airing, these greatest hits will go back into the vault. (So try not to miss them!)

Here’s a quick rundown of this week’s featured LIVE episodes.
Episode 23 (airing LIVE on Sunday at 5 p.m. PT with English subtitles)
Originally airing on December 26, 2010, Episode 23 was set at the Alpensia Ski Resort in Pyeongchang. If the location sounds familiar, it’s because the 2018 Winter Olympics were held at Pyeongchang. (For those keeping track, South Korea won five gold, eight silver and four bronze medals.) The guest star was comedian Shim Hyung-rae, who had a great time hamming it up with the cast. One of the early challenges included a cast member sitting in a ski lift, shouting questions to his teammates, who had to run up the ski slope and scream out the correct answer. I won’t spoil it for you by telling you who won, but the overall losers of this episode’s challenge had to ski down the mountain, while wearing hot pants!
Episode 20 (airing LIVE on Thursday 9 p.m. BRT with Portuguese subtitles)
This was so long ago that Lizzy was still a regular cast member! (She appeared on Episodes 13 to 27 of “Running Man.) On Episode 20 — which originally aired on Dec. 5, 2010 — Super Junior‘s Heechul is the guest star and joins the cast on location at the Korea Meteorological Administration. Sounds kind of dry, right? In reality, it was a pretty hysterical episode, starting off with Ha Ha‘s Pororo (the little cartoon penguin) imitations. (Sigh, I miss those, don’t you?) The highlight of this episode is when each member (and Heechul) had about five minutes to memorize a weather script. Do you think the actors on the show (like Song Ji-Hyo) had an advantage? You may be surprised at who won that challenge … and who had to wear hot pants as a punishment for losing.
And idol fans, take note: KOCOWA’s weekly LIVE airings of music programs like SBS Inkigayo will return the second week of January. This means you can watch them at exactly the same time as viewers in South Korea. The music shows were on hiatus due to the annual award shows! KOCOWA showcased the 2020 KBS Song Festival, SBS 2020 Gayo Daejeon in Daegu and other awards shows LIVE.

These classic episodes are my favoties and I hope KOCOWA will post more soon!
I want to say thank you to KOCOWA for making it possible to rewatch the earlier Running Man episodes. I’ve been such a huge fan of the program since 2010. It has brought so much laughter and joy in my life when I needed it most. When I saw a post that KOCOWA was streaming the early years of Running Man 2x on Sundays, I was so happy! I understand that a lot goes on behind the scenes to make this stream possible and for that I want to say thank you. Many fans, like myself, try to catch the first showing of the stream but due to circumstances we can’t watch the first stream and depend on the encore. The views might be smaller than the first showing but I’m sure fans appreciate it. Please reconsider doing an encore presentation of Running Man.

Sad that the Sunday Rerun of Running Man Classic Episodes is gone. It was the only time I could watch it.
