In the world of Korean Entertainment, award shows have always played a significant role. Now, with the growing popularity of streaming platforms like NETFLIX, WAVVE, Disney+, and others, Sports Chosun, known for presenting the prestigious Blue Dragon Film Awards, has taken a step further. They launched South Korea’s very first award ceremony specifically dedicated to recognizing excellence in dramas and variety shows produced by these streaming services!
The Blue Dragon Series Awards celebrate the remarkable growth of the original series industry. The nominees were carefully chosen through surveys involving officials and regular viewers, along with evaluations by the entertainment news reporters at Sports Chosun. To be eligible for nominations, the series had to be produced, invested in, and released by OTT platforms between May 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.
Excitingly, the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards took place on July 19, 2023, with Jun Hyun Moo and Im Yoon A as the charming hosts! It was a night to recognize and honor the outstanding achievements in the world of streaming service-produced dramas and variety shows.
