We’ve gone into the KOCOWA vault and found eight heart sweeping romantic-comedy K-Dramas that aired between 2010 – 2016 filled with plenty of charming and swoon-worthy moments to love this Valentine’s season. These shows are cute, cuddly, and as comfortable as a well-worn pair of sweats straight from the dryer. Check them out below!
“My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” (2010)
An adorable magical trip to a world where gumiho’s exist and just want love. Shin Mina is at the head of this adorable love story as the gumiho seeking a man. But, she is also trying to gain an understanding of contemporary Korean society, and the poor man who has to abide by her every wish or get his liver eaten is – none other than the lovable Lee Seung Gi!
“Personal Taste” (2010)
If you are feening for a noona romance (older woman, younger man) with a live in roommate and secrets to uncover in an architectural dream house, then have a look at “Personal Taste.” Super stars, Lee Min Ho and Son Ye Jin head this show of reluctant roommates turned lovers, and the traditional Korean house they live in is definitely one to behold.
“Pasta” (2010)
A romantic-comedy that sticks to the comedy part throughout as a young up and coming chef must prove herself to an egotistical and misogynist head chef of an Italian restaurant. Throw in a lot of yummy Italian food and a handsome trio of delightful sou chefs, and you have one fun Korean drama! It will have you yelling, “Yey, Chef!” by the end.
“Tale of Arang” (2012)
A magical historical love story with plenty of other worldly gags all mixed together with a cute love story between a ghost (Shin Mina) and a magistrate (Lee Jong Gi) that has to solve her murder in order to get a good night’s rest. “Tale of Arang” is funny and heartfelt and definitely one to watch!
“Healer” (2014)
An action romance where the little guy wins in the end over seemingly insurmountable odds! Plus, Ji Chang Wook is fighting baddies and zooming around on a motorcycle in all black, and Park Min Young is a hot young reporter trying to get the real scoop. The two fall in love, of course, and it is so satisfying to watch!
“Fated to Love You” (2014)
If you want to see Jang Hyuk stretching his comedic muscle and Jang Nara being her adorable self, then you must check out “Fated to Love You,” the love story that arises after a spoiled chaebol has a one-night stand with an adorable girl-next-door. Jang Nara is so cute, and Jang Hyuk is so off the wall, it is a must watch.
“Oh My Venus” (2015)
One of the cutest K-Drama romances out there! “Oh My Venus” is about a woman (Shin Mina) who once had a body to die for, but gains weight after becoming a workaholic and enduring a bad breakup. She then dedicates herself to losing that weight and falls in love at the same time – and with So Ji Sub no less! There are so many cute moments in this one that are sure to make you squeal in delight.
“Love In The Moonlight” (2016)
A so-sweet-you-have-to-go-to-brush-your-teeth historical romance that touches on first loves, cross-dressing, and of course, fated encounters. Plus, it has two amazingly talented young stars in Park Bo Gum and Kim Yoo Jung playing the leads. Let me tell you, they hit it out the park and into the moonlight (tee hee).
I’m not sure if you noticed, but Shin Mina made the list several times, which kind of shows my bias. But, honestly, she is in so many good romantic-comedies! Though all the romantic-comedies on this list are fun to sink into the couch with and will have you smiling so hard at the awkward yet lovely love moments. Be sure to check them out on KOCOWA!
