BTS is at it again. The global hitmakers are set to appear on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on July 13 and 14, when they will take center stage for their U.S. TV premiere of their new single, “Permission to Dance.” On the second evening, the Korean septet will perform their No. 1 hit “Butter,” which has already spent seven weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
In their 11-second clip touting their appearance, RM said, “We’re coming back to the ‘Tonight Show.’ Make sure to tune in.”
Coming back? That’s right. This isn’t the first time RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook have graced “The Tonight Show” stages. In September 2020, the popular late-night chat show hosted the group for five consecutive appearances. During that week, BTS’ iconic performances included “Idol,” “Home,” “Black Swan,” “Mikrokosmos” and “Dynamite,” which racked up more than 230 million digital views.
Back then, Jimmy Fallon released a statement that showed off his excitement. “We love having BTS on the show,” he said. “These guys are incredible and you just know they’re going to go above and beyond to make their performance unforgettable.”
Of course, while ARMY always looks forward to these American appearances, let’s not forget some of the Grammy-nominated group’s stellar Korean guest spots, where they showed off their comedic skills and performances.
“KBS News9 Interview with BTS”
One of the beauties of watching BTS on Korean TV shows is seeing how comfortable they appear conversing in Korean with interviewers who speak the same language as them. The group members don’t have to worry about needing an interpreter and can be a little more relaxed. On “KBS News9 interview with BTS,” Lee So Jung asked them about their life during COVID-19. The guys were candid about how happy they were that “Dynamite” was such a hit, but also how frustrating it was to postpone their 2020 stadium tour until the pandemic was over.

“2021 Special Talk Show — Let’s BTS”
One of the cutest segments on this show was when each of the group members was asked to read their fans’ clever compliments about them. BTS looked a little shy about all the adulation, but you could also tell they were charmed by all the affection.

RM: “I heard there are no speed limit signs where you drive … because there are no limits to RM.”
Jin: “You must avoid going to debate sessions … because you’re too handsome and people will become speechless.”
SUGA: “I want to be your stray hair … so I can keep bothering you.”
j-hope: “j-hope is perfect, but he’s lacking in something. Flaws.”
Jimin: “I heard you caused a war. A love war.”
V: “I feel like I’ll be attacked because of you. A heart attack.”
Jung Kook: “Were you a candle in a previous life … because you keep melting my heart.”
Afterwards, Jung Kook sweetly noted, “Our ARMY is really clever!”
While we wait for BTS to make their appearance tonight (and July 14), be sure to check out some of their Korean talk show appearances right here on KOCOWA. They are super fun and offer wonderful insight into how their lives have been going during these tumultuous times.
