After a dramatic year apart, “Crushology 101’s”, final two episodes bring Bunny back to Korea and right into a storm of unresolved feelings, old first loves, and new choices. Episode 11 picks up with Bunny and Jae Yeol still at odds, but with graduation and adulthood looming, everyone is forced to face what (and who) they really want.
From surprise reunions to heartfelt confessions, here’s what happened in episodes 11 and 12 of “Crushology 101″ as the series raced toward the finale!
Crushology 101 Episode 11 Recap
Episode 11 kicks off with a one-year time jump after Bunny’s been in the US for a year. Now she’s finally back in Korea and is greeted by family and friends at the airport. Her friends are over the moon to see her, but when it comes to Jae Yeol, awkward doesn’t even begin to cover it. They haven’t talked in 12 months, and you can feel the tension even though they haven’t run into each other yet.
Bunny’s first day back at Yein University is a mix of excitement and nerves. She’s able to get into an elective with the help of her bestie, but she barely gets settled in class before Jae Yeol walks in. Instead of the warm welcome she might have hoped for, he keeps his distance, as per usual, as he is unsure how to act around her. Every time they bump into each other (like when they’re both roped into helping with a campus banner), it’s just more awkward glances and unsaid words.
And then in steps the basketball guy! Finally! Basketball guy, Oh Jin Hyun, is Bunny’s first love and a friend of Bunny’s family. He used to be her next-door neighbor and is now a PE major at another university, but he’s playing pick-up ball around Yein and is not shy about hanging out with Bunny or telling her that he was the one who wrote the Christmas Wish message for Bunny a year ago!
Jae Yeol, for his part, is clearly thrown by Hyun Oh’s return. Instead of stepping up, he gets more withdrawn and jealous, and as usual, his inability to actually say what he feels just pushes Bunny further away.
During a university magazine interview, where the handsomest men in arts and sports at colleges in town are asked to attend, Hyun Oh, the handsomest basketball student, basically confesses his feelings for Bunny in front of everyone, saying she’s the only thing that’s ever rivaled his love for sports. Jae Yeol is also at this magazine interview as the handsomest art student, but instead of confessing his feelings, he stays quiet. The magazine gives them both two tickets to a hot air balloon ride. Hyun Oh immediately asks Bunny to be his plus one. Jae Yeol asks Ji Won to be his.
This entire episode, Ji Won is back from the States too, and has been a great supporter to Bunny. He even plays the peacemaker and gives Jae Yeol a pep talk that reminds him that Bunny still cares about him. She never stopped caring about him in the US or Korea.
The episode’s cliffhanger moment comes with a hot air balloon date where Hyun Oh and Bunny are about to get on the hot air balloon, but Jae Yeol comes up and grabs Bunny on the arm, telling her, “Don’t go.” We all know Jae Yeol is big on these end-of-episode moments. But this time, Hyun Oh grabs Jae Yeol’s arms and asks what he is doing. Jae Yeol, in turn, grabs Hyun Woo’s arm, and we are stuck in a three-way tug of war.
Crushology 101 Episode 12 Recap
Instead of telling Jae Yeol to go somewhere and leave her alone, Bunny decides to go have a talk with him. During this talk, Jae Yeol apologizes for all that he did by not sending her off well. But he doesn’t say anything else, so Bunny is left thinking that he still just wants to put everything in the past and be good friends.
Jae Yeol is about to tell her that that isn’t it, but is interrupted by Hyun Oh, who is basically like, I’ve been patient enough, time for you to leave.
Hyun Oh and Bunny go to a cafe to talk, where she says that she thought Jae Yeol would ask her to date him again, but he didn’t. Hyun Oh asks, “What about me? Remember that first love I mentioned? That was you.” She is left stunned.
Jae Yeol goes out drinking with Ji Won and gets drunk again. In a lighthearted moment, they end up getting very drunk together and fall asleep at Jae Yeol’s place, cuddling.
But things get real the next day when Jae Yeol realizes that he lost his external hard drive on the ride home and has to try and locate the driver as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Bunny has a meal with her friends where they chat boys. Hyun Oh picks her up from there, and they go on a walk. But it is clear that Bunny is still only thinking of Jae Yeol. She abruptly leaves Hyun Oh and runs to find Jae Yeol, who is still frantically looking for his hard drive.
Together they search all day and into the night for it, finally finding the driver at a small store, which allows them to spend a tiny amount of quality time together, where he tells her that he missed her so much.
She breaks the news the next day to Hyun Oh about Jae Yeol being the one. He is easy going about it and jokes that he will still have the title of Bunny’s first love.
The college magazine edition comes out with Hyun Oh and Jae Yeol on the cover. Inside, Jae Yeol tells the magazine that he wasn’t truthful earlier, and he is actually waiting for his girlfriend to come back from a year ago.
They both run to each other and confess their feelings about still liking the other and missing them a lot, and they kiss.
The rest of the episode is spent on cute moments and wrapping up loose ends. Jae Yeol makes amends with his mother, and Jae Yeol and Bunny’s parents meet to accept them as a couple, and he gives her a promise ring. All the friends end up happily ever after as well.
