There were twists, turns, and revelations galore in episode 3 of “The Penthouse!” But you already knew that, right? That’s why you’re here, to see what you missed or to make sense of everything that went on. Well, we’ve got you covered!

Disclaimer: Spoilers alert!

Season 3, Episode 3 of “The Penthouse” is all about Joo Dan Tae and all the revelations and surprises unfolding around his family. But the biggest revelation had to do with his own backstory!

In season 3 of “The Penthouse,” we finally find out more about Joo Dan Tae’s backstory. The biggest shocker – Joo Dan Tae is not actually Joo Dan Tae! He was born Baek Joon Ki. So, who is the real Joo Dan Tae then? Buckle up because this is going to get a bit confusing.

In the beginning of this  season, a new character, Baek Jook Ki,  showed up. Baek Joon Ki is the real Joo Dan Tae. Say what? You might be saying in your head. Yes! He is the real Joo Dan Tae! But that is not the only shocker! The Joo Dan Tae that we have come to know and love (or loath, ha) for three seasons’ birth name is actually Baek Joon Ki!

So Joo Dan Tae = Baek Joon Ki and Baek Joon Ki = Joo Dan Tae. They pulled a switcheroo! But it was a one-sided switcheroo because the real Joo Dan Tae (who we are introduced to as Baek Joon Ki) enjoyed his life until the fake Joo Dan Tae (who we know as Joo Dan Tae) stole his identity!

How did this go down? Joo Dan Tae used to be a servant for the wealthy Joo family. Back then, he was known as Mr. Baek Joon Ki or Mr. Baek. Well, Mr. Baek has been scheming since the beginning of time, killed the real Joo Dan Tae’s parents, and blamed it on the son. Then he went and stole his identity!

Mr. Baek became Joo Dan Tae, lied to Soo Ryeon about his past, and married her.

So, since the son is wanted for a murder he didn’t commit, he decides to take Joo Dan Tae’s identity and plan his revenge. It took him two seasons to get his stuff together, but now he’s here.

So now the son is named Baek Joon Ki, and the Joo Dan Tae we have come to know is still Joo Dan Tae. Let’s just stick with those names moving forward.

Baek Joon Ki starts to slowly interfere in Joo Dan Tae’s life by holding Dan Tae’s past over him. Dan Tae does not like this one bit and vows to make Baek Joon Ki pay for this interference.

At the same time, Baek Joon Ki reveals to Soo Ryeon that Joo Dan Tae is the real person that killed Logan and gives her the promise ring Logan had planned to give her. They both promise to get their revenge.

There are some other crazy big reveals and shocking turns that happened in episode 3. I will only mention a few, but you will have to watch the episode for all of them. I suggest you do it now before more spoilers are revealed.

Joo Dan Tae and his daughter Joo Seok Kyung decide to bribe a professor to help her cheat on an exam. Soo Ryeon finds out and gets her daughter kicked out of school. She is hoping to do it for her daughter’s own good, so that Joo Seok Kyung does not become as bad as her father.

But this basically pushes Seok Kyung even further to the dark side. Seok Kyung ends up stealing Soo Ryeon’s ID and personal dojang (aka Korean signature stamp), and gives it to Joo Dan Tae.

In Eun Byul’s storyline, Eun Byul’s tutor yells at her one day and says, I am your real Mom, Jin Boon Hong! This could be true, or this tutor could be slightly deranged.

For Yoon Hee and Soo Ryeon’s storyline, while  Logan was still alive, he told a secret to Yoon Hee to never tell Soo Ryeon that her daughter might still be alive, so Yoon Hee goes to the hospital to find out what happened with Soo Ryeon’s real daughter.

She finds out information on the single mother that gave birth that day and hires a private detective to find out more about her. The private detective finds out that the woman Yoon Hee is looking for died in a murder case, but they never found her body.

Yoo Dong Pil, Yoo Jenny’s father, and Kang Ma Ri’s husband, is the one that was accused of the murder!

So, yes, lots going on with “The Penthouse!” This is just episode 3, y’all, and we already have  so much drama unfolded! They started season 3 with half the actors in jail, and now everyone is out, popping bottles at the bar, and plotting murders once again. You know how they do. It is ridiculous to the ninth degree in the most watchable way possible.
