Love With Flaws” is off to a great start… by revealing the flaws of every prominent character quickly! Unlike the mystery drama “VIP” where every character is hiding a secret, each character of this drama has a strange, “bizarre” flaw that keeps things really lighthearted and comedic.

Main leads: Oh Yeon-Seo, Ahn Jae-Hyun, Kim Seul-Gi, Gu Won.

Synopsis: The P.E. teacher Joo Seo-Yeon (Oh Yeon-Seo) dislikes good-looking guys because of all the trouble her handsome brothers have brought her while growing up. When she was younger, she had humiliated Lee Kang-Woo (Ahn Jae-Hyun) for being ugly. And that made Lee Kang-Woo experience something traumatizing, making him obsessed with his appearance and cleanliness.

What are the flaws that have been revealed so far?

Joo Seo-Yeon (Oh Yeon-Seo)’s flaw

Right off the bat, Joo Seo-Yeon (Oh Yeon-Seo) displays a huge flaw of hers–she discriminates against people with good looks. Seo-Yeon has this preconceived idea that ugly guys have good personalities and handsome guys do not. Needless to say, her ideal type is a guy who is not good-looking.

She acts all tough and boyish towards the people around her, but beneath that delicate cover, she is probably just a young lady tired of the superficiality of a society that is obsessed with appearance.

Lee Kang-Woo (Ahn Jae-Hyun)’s flaw

Lee Kang-Woo (Ahn Jae-Hyun) was humiliated by Joo Seo-Yeon for being ugly and fat after confessing to her when they were kids. That had somehow led Kang-Woo to poop his pants during a school trip, which traumatized him as a child. He never got over it, and grew up to become overly obsessed with his appearance and cleanliness.

But there is one other thing that has also been holding him back after that incident–he suffers from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The mere thought of poop triggers his urge to go to the bathroom (which he couldn’t make it in time sometimes), and he comes to a desperate conclusion that he has to approach his first love, Seo-Yeon to be able to treat it.

Kim Mi-Kyung (Kim Seul-Gi)’s flaw

Just like her best friend, Joo Seo-Yeon, Kim Mi-Kyung (Kim Seul-Gi) has trouble finding love despite her attempts to hit on the good-looking guys around her.

Lee Min-Hyeok (Gu Won)’s flaw

Lee Min-Hyeok (Gu Won) is a competent and good-looking school doctor but has a problem with lying and keeping secrets to himself.

The bathroom humor in this drama attracts a group of viewers with a very specific type of humor, and personally… I am not really one of them. Looking past that, the drama is as good as it is with how lighthearted it is presented.

Love With Flaws” could make a good drama choice when you need a good break with the use of minimal brain cells. Still, its future episodes could give viewers a pleasant surprise with its potential to turn heartwarming and deep with Seo-Yeon’s close-knitted family scenes and more, by going deeper than superficial appearances.
