Yes, you read it right! Queen Lee Yu Ri is back in K-Dramas after 2 years! She last starred in the makjang drama “Lie After Lie,” which became one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television history. So everyone is looking forward to her next drama!

Becoming Witch,” which stars Lee Yu Ri, Lee Min Young, and Yoon So Yi, is an upcoming black comedy mystery K-Drama about three women who come from totally different backgrounds and encounter enemies they want to kill during a peculiar time in their lives.

The plot already sounds exciting, right? BUT I’ll give more reasons to tune in for this upcoming female-centric drama!

1. Lee Yu Ri’s comeback drama after “Lie After Lie.”

We all know the popularity of “Lie After Lie” last 2020. The drama didn’t only break its own record for the highest viewership ratings achieved by any drama on Channel A, but it also became one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television history! It was such a huge achievement, thanks to Lee Yu Ri!

Lee Yu Ri is a veteran actress with many popular K-Dramas under her name! She starred as the antagonist in the romantic comedy “Jang Bori is Here,” one of the female leads in the hit family drama “My Father is Strange,” the female lead in the crime melodrama “Hide and Seek” and fantasy comedy “Spring Turns to Spring“!

She’s one of the actresses loved in South Korea due to her superb acting and range in drama projects! Did you know that Lee Yu Ri has a Daesang (Grand Prize) under her name? She won the award at the 2014 MBC Drama Awards!

2. A black comedy female-centric thriller drama

Looking at the genre, black comedy and a female-centric thriller drama, I think everyone would love that! “Becoming Witch” deals with three women tempted to murder during a peculiar time in their life.

Now let’s get to know the characters! Gong Ma Ri, portrayed by Lee Yu Ri, is a housewife who learns that her husband is having an affair, so she seeks an alternative method to end her marriage! The first character sounds interesting; let’s get to know the next!

Chae Hee Soo, portrayed by Lee Min Young, is a daughter-in-law of a chaebol family whose marriage is not going well. She’s not just taking care of her sick mother-in-law, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, but she must also endure her husband’s indifference as she becomes pregnant. One day, her mother-in-law gives her a terrifying but tempting offer. The second female lead is as interesting as the first, and I’m curious what kind of tempting offer her mother-in-law gave Hee Soo.

The third character is Yang Jin A, who will be portrayed by Yoon So Yi, who has an evil husband. After her husband’s death, she collected a large amount of money from his life insurance policy. With that money, she is now living a different life than she was previously accustomed to; however, she suffers from the anxiety that someone will take her money away! Seeing the synopsis and character description, I know that “Becoming Witch” will be THAT drama. It has intriguing characters, so you look forward to what will happen next!

3. Full of Veteran Actors and has an Outstanding Director

Becoming Witch” stars not only Lee Yu Ri but also Lee Min Young, Yoon So Yi, Jung Sang Hoon, Kim Young Jae, and much more!

Those who loved the TV Chosun drama “Love ft. Marriage and Divorce” can expect to see another spectacular performance from Lee Min Young in this drama! The veteran actress has worked on different K-Dramas such as “Your House Helper” and “Doctor Prisoner“!

The third female lead is the model turned actress Yoon So Yi, who is loved for her various roles in K-Dramas! She is best known for her roles in “Warrior Baek Dong Soo” and “The Last Empress“.

The comedy-thriller series is directed by Kim Yeon Chul, who worked with Hyun Bin and Kim Sun A on “My Lovely Sam Soon,” and is written by Park Bar Ram! Everyone is really anticipating this drama since it’s a work by a trusted director full of veteran actors and actresses.
