Our favorite actor, Kang Tae Oh, who is loved for his role as Lee Jun Ho in the K-Drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” enlisted in the military on September 20, 2022.

On that day, he entered the recruitment training center of the 37th division in Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do to fulfill his mandatory military duty. After completing basic military training at the 37th Infantry Recruit Training Center, Kang Tae Oh will serve as an active duty soldier for 18 months, so we will probably see him again in 2024!

It’s a pity because “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” is Kang Tae Oh’s breakthrough role. This drama, which was his first lead role, has been a big success around the world. He even earned the title of “People’s Disappointment Man” because of his iconic lines in the drama.

I know a lot of us are sad about this news because it means we won’t see Kang Tae Oh until 2024 but don’t be too sad because Kang Tae Oh has an upcoming thriller film with Shin Hye Sun that is set to air this year.

If you can’t wait for Tae Oh to return, there are plenty of great dramas he’s been in that you can watch in the meantime. These include “The Tale of Nokdu,” where he plays a sexy antagonist, “Run On,” where he plays a charming art student, “You Are Too Much,” where he is a pianist, and “A Moment of Romance,” a KBS Drama Special, where he plays the polar opposite of walking green flag Lee Jun Ho!

Other Korean Actors Set To Enlist This Year

Seeing this enlistment news of Kang Tae Oh made me remember that he’s not the only 1994 liner who is set to enlist this year! I’m sure some people have already noticed this but there’s a certain age Korean men can postpone their military service so almost all men who were born in 1994 have to enlist this year.

Park Jinyoung

Yes, it’s GOT7 and the amazing actor Park Jinyoung. Born in 1994, Jinyoung made his acting debut in the sequel to the hit teen drama “Dream High!” In recent years, Jinyoung has established himself as an amazing idol actor with performances as diverse as the action flick “Yaksha: Ruthless Operation” and the romantic comedy “Yumi’s Cells 2”!

Nam Joo Hyuk

Star of many hit shows like “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo,” “Who Are You,” and, most recently, “Twenty Five Twenty One,” Nam Joo Hyuk is also preparing to enlist in the military this year. Born on February 22nd, 1994, I fear we’ll have to say goodbye after he wraps production on his upcoming thriller drama, “Vigilante”.

Kim Min Gue

Everyone’s favorite rising star Kim Min Gue (“Perfume“) is also set to enlist this year. He was born on December 25, 1994, and also recently rose to stardom because of his role as Cha Sung Hoon in the popular romantic comedy “Business Proposal”! Kim Min Gue is currently filming his first fantasy romance lead role!

Song Kang

Song Kang, who is loved by many for his iconic roles in “Love Alarm,” “Sweet Home,” “Nevertheless,” “Village Survival, the Eight” and more, is also set to enlist this year since he is also a 1994 liner! Don’t worry because he is currently filming the second season of “Sweet Home,” so we will still see more of him in the coming months!

EXO Sehun and Kai

Most EXO members have already enlisted in the military, and the group’s maknaes, Sehun and Kai are said to be next. Kai and Sehun are both from the 1994 singer line and are also part of the EXO’s actor line. The two proved that one can be both a successful idol and actor! You can check out the two in EXO’s recent travel-themed variety show, “EXO’s Travel the World on a Ladder in Namhae“.

Kang Seung Yoon

WINNER Kang Seung Yoon is another of my favorite idol actors that are enlisting this year. He’s a 1994 liner and an actor who’s great at choosing dramas, appearing in the hit dramas “Prison Playbook,” “Kairos,” and “Tomorrow”!

Na In Woo

Na In Woo is that actor we have seen all year round! Ever since starring in the popular sageuk fusion, “Mr. Queen,” Na In Woo has landed his first lead role together with Kim So Hyun and has appeared in 3 dramas after that! He’s also currently a cast member in “2 Days and 1 Night 4,” so we should appreciate all his projects before he enlists this year!

This news is really sad for us big fans of these actors, so let’s do our best to support them on all their projects before they enlist because waiting for 18 months is such a long time! But, while waiting, we can still watch them on KOCOWA!

  1. Being drafted is a good thing in one way but a real pain in another..
Two years is quite a long time and no doubt messes up relationships and sometimes careers as well.
If a couple really are seriously in love then the time won’t matter??
